The latest Trump calamity is upon us and unsurprisingly Trump, very much alive and well has again seized the moment and leapt to the center of the stage and US corporate media is more than happy to oblige.

We are in the final stages of yet another presidential campaign season and it’s round the clock coverage of all things Trump related. It’s not just that he’s adept at manipulating the media, it is that the media is well aware of what he’s doing and willingly obliges anyway. They know that he brings with him viewership, readership, page views and enormous advertising revenues. Love Trump or hate him he is money for the media and they are perfectly willing to play his game as long as it suits their bottom line.

What did Kamala Harris do today? What did Kamala Harris say today? We don’t know and it doesn’t matter because Donald Trump and his corporate media dependents are too busy producing the latest installment of the All Things Trump Show.

This is a national election cycle that will decide control of the House of Representatives, the United States Senate and the US presidency and the US corporate media couldn’t possibly care less. They are perfectly willing to ignore the presidential candidate who is actually leading the race, Kamala Harris.

What responsibility does the fourth estate have to exercise good judgement and act in the public interest? Well if those media companies are for profit organizations then the answer then the answer is, only when it serves their interests and their bottom line.

We are now painfully aware ad infinitum of every conceivable detail of the latest crazy person’s adventure to shoot Donald Trump. It has been reported to a mind-numbing extent. Let’s act like the future of the country is at stake, which it is and return to a modicum of balanced reporting. If that’s even possible.
