To write an endorsement of Kamala Harris for President one must first rationalize the immense threat posed to American Democracy by her opponent, Donald J Trump. One of Joe Biden’s favorite campaign slogans during his 2020 campaign for the presidency was, “Don’t compare me to the almighty, compare me to the alternative.” If that alternative is the four times criminally indicted former President, then there is no comparison.

Kamala Harris is a dedicated and accomplished civil servant. She understands the law and she adheres to it. She understands the aspirations of her supporters and the rights of her opponents and she has the discipline, training and judgement not to abuse the office of the presidency.

In comparing Kamala Harris to the alternative it would be useful to remember that she is not and never been accused of corrupt intent or activity. She is not currently under felony criminal indictment, and never has been. She has never been found liable in a court of law for sexual assault. She is not likely to abandon America’s closest strategic allies. She knows how to handle classified documents and will not share the information with hostile or adversarial foreign powers. She is not threatening to unleash federal law enforcement and the US military on her political opponents. She does not threaten to jail her political opponents. She does not insult or disparage ethnic groups. Her staff has not and would not physically abuse the service personnel standing guard over Arlington National Cemetery. That’s a short list.

Character matters. Integrity matters. Professionalism matters. Self interest is not a virtue for a civil servant, it is a liability. Kamala Harris will take care of the oval office like a pro. There will not be a steady stream of calamities on a daily basis. The oval office will not be run like a three ring circus. The United States will be able to stand among the community of nations without shame.

On November 5th use common sense. Go with the candidate with the greater professionalism and integrity. Don’t risk the future of the country on a proven liar and his pipe dream.
