During a campaign speech a supporter once enthusiastically shouted out to Harry Truman, “Give ’em hell Harry.” Truman replied, “I don’t give them hell. I just tell the truth about them, and they think it’s hell.”

Katie Porter has been a rabble rouser and what Congressman and Civil Rights icon John Lewis called a “good trouble maker” throughout her entire career in public service. Porter doesn’t have to make the case that she will stand-up to the corrupt interests, she demonstrated it day-in and day-out during her tenure in Congress.

Tom Steyer may say that he will stand up to the billionaires, but he is a billionaire himself and the ring is hollow. Steyer has nowhere near the credibility on this crucial issue that Porter does. Her track record on doing battle with monied interests dwarfs not only Steyer’s but that of any of her campaign rivals.

California officials love to boast of the world’s fifth largest economy. However with that have come significant compromises for California residents. The state has long accepted transgressive conduct from an array of big businesses.

The energy industry, the insurance industry, healthcare, agriculture the list goes on. California has rolled out the red carpet and often turned a blind eye to abusive even predatory conduct. While it’s great to have a big booming economy, residents are weary of continuing the pattern of having their best interests take a back seat to corporate profits. Californians are hungry for reform and that is Katie Porter’s brand.

Elizabeth Warren has spoken out forcefully and convincingly on behalf of Katie Porter’s campaign. We urge California progressives and all voters in the Golden State to follow her lead and rally behind Katie Porter’s uniquely Progressive campaign for reform.
