Moscow's forces deployed 47 missiles and 619 drones overnight, primarily targeting the city of Dnipro while also striking the Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Odesa, and Kyiv oblasts, the Air Force reported. Ukrainian air defenses reportedly intercepted 580 drones and 30 missiles.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Governor Oleksandr Hanzha reported that a four-story building and an unspecified "industrial infrastructure facility" were struck in Dnipro amid the attack.
At least four people have been killed during the attacks overnight, Hanzha said, with authorities previously reporting that more people may be trapped under the debris.
Attacks against the city continued during the day on April 25, killing another person. The daytime strike targeted the same residential area that was hit overnight, the governor reported.
Fifty-six people were injured during the attacks overnight and during the day, including a nine-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl, and three other children, the governor later said.
A total of eight people were killed in the deadly Russian strikes on Dnipro over the past day, Hanzha reported.
Two police officers were among the injured, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
"Buildings, businesses, vehicles, and a shop have been damaged," the governor wrote on social media.
Deputy Mayor Yurii Yandulskyi, another city administration official, and specialists were "almost killed" in the double-tap attack, Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov reported.
Rescue operations have now concluded following the series of Russian strikes on Dnipro that lasted over 20 hours, authorities reported.
In Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that a missile strike hit near a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city, adding that a public transport stop was destroyed in the attack.
Later, a morning drone strike in the city's Nemyshlianskyi district injured two people, including a year-and-a-half-old boy, the mayor said.
Massive drone attacks were reported in Odesa Oblast overnight, with two people injured in the southern part of the region, according to Governor Oleh Kiper.
Residential buildings, cars, port infrastructure facilities, and a civilian vessel sailing under the Panama flag were damaged.
In Chernihiv Oblast, a Russian missile and drone attack against the city of Nizhyn killed two men aged 30 and 60. At least seven people were injured in the region.
Minor damage was also reported at a house in Cherkasy Oblast, while in Mykolaiv Oblast, a power line was damaged, cutting power to six settlements.
"Russia's tactics remain unchanged — attack drones, cruise missiles, and a significant number of ballistic missiles. Most targets are civilian infrastructure in cities," Zelensky said on social media.
"Each such strike must remind our partners that the situation requires immediate and decisive action," he said, urging allies to help shore up Ukraine's air defenses.
While most of the drones and missiles were reportedly intercepted, authorities recorded hits by 13 missiles and 36 drones in 23 areas.
Explosions were heard in Kharkiv and Dnipro beginning around 3:30 a.m. local time amid reports that Russia had launched multiple ballistic missiles and dozens of attack drones targeting regions across the country.
Explosions later rang out in Bila Tserkva, a city in Kyiv Oblast, around 4:50 a.m.
Ukraine's Air Force warned of Russian drone swarms targeting multiple regions overnight, including Kyiv Oblast. Air raid alerts were declared for all regions of the country around 3:45 a.m. amid the ballistic missile threat.
In response to the Russian attack on Ukraine, Poland's Air Force said it scrambled Polish and allied fighter jets to protect Polish airspace.
In Romania, two British Eurofighter Typhoon jets were scrambled after Russian drones approached the Ukrainian-Romanian border overnight, Romania's Defense Ministry said.
"The pilots were authorized to engage the drones," according to the statement. The NATO jets made radar contact with a drone near Reni over Ukrainian territory, but as it did not enter Romanian airspace, they did not open fire, the ministry later clarified.
Drone fragments were later found on the Romanian side of the border, resulting in minor damage to civilian infrastructure but no casualties, according to Romanian authorities.
Russia regularly strikes Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings and energy infrastructure, as it continues to wage its war.
